Discover Peter Knight’s Solo Projects and Albums

Perpetually curious, composer/trumpeter Peter Knight's practice thrives in the spaces between genres, categories, and cultures. His recent solo work extends the possibilities of his instrument with innovative approaches that interweave acoustic preparations, extended techniques with electroacoustic processing via laptop, vintage delays, tape machines, amplifiers, and pedals. Peter is interested in the use of repetition, rhythmic overlapping, slow harmonic evolution and subtle timbral evolutions to shift our perceptions of linear time.

Peter works with video artists including Amiel Courtin-Wilson and Scott Morrison to create immersive live environments for his music.

Peter’s latest solo album, For a Moment the Sky Knew My Name was released on ROOM40 in November 2025.

Featuring:

Peter Knight - trumpet, voice, electronics, synthesisers
Lawrence English - atmospheres on For a Moment the Sky Knew My Name
Quinn Knight - drum kit on For a Moment the Sky Knew My Name

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Lawrence English

SHADOW PHASE, is also out now on the ROOM40 label. It was included in Headphone Commute’s Best of 2022, which described it as, "a carefully curated exercise in reflective restraint, dreamy atmospherics, ebbing dynamics.”

Praise for, For a Moment the Sky Knew My Name:

“Knight bends time into a single moment of reflection, of life unfolding across generations, his trumpet casting long melodic lines across the frame like nets thrown into deep water.” Foxy Digitalis video premiere

“Vividly painted panoramic scenes that capture the stillness and magic of the place while Knight’s trumpet meditates and muses with soulful, evocative expression. It is music that breathes as much as it flows.” Stationary Travels

“Offering a listening experience that feels at once intimate and cosmic.” Sonofmarketing

For a Moment the Sky Knew My Name will have its concert debuts in Sydney and Melbourne in March 2026 - stay tuned.

Praise for Shadow Phase:

“A sonic world of wonder, warmth, and possibility.” The Saturday Paper

“Shadow Phase is also a music of light and dark, of elements being revealed and concealed with unerring patience.” Forced Exposure
