Longe da Estrada part of ArteKino Festival 2025

Longe da Estrada (dir. Hugo Vieira Da Silva) with score by Peter Knight is part of ArteKino Festival 2025.

Tahiti, 1903. The doctor and poet Victor Segalen leaves France for Hiva Oa hoping to meet Paul Gauguin. But upon arrival, he discovers that the painter has just died. Inspired by Segalen's own writings, Longe da estrada is a reflection on Gauguin's legacy and contradictions, and on the fraught relationship between colonizers and the colonized.
