The music of London­-born multi-­instrumentalist Shabaka spans Afro­-Caribbean fusion, club culture, and various jazz traditions. For his first appearance at the Pierre Boulez Saal, he joins Hand to Earth—the quintet, which made a memorable debut here in 2022, brings together Daniel Wilfred, a traditional Yolngu songman from Northern Australia, and Korean vocalist Sunny Kim. The ensemble also includes trumpeter and sound artist Peter Knight, clarinetist Aviva Endean, and David Wilfred on didgeridoo. Together, these six extraordinary artists blend a vocal tradition reaching back 40,000 years with contemporary sounds, creating a unique musical tapestry of the ancient and the new.
